Registration for the 2012 U.S. Open Class Nationals must be done through the Soaring Society of America’s Member Login section. Once logged in click on Sailplane Racing, and then select Online Registration.

Modification to the Glider/Pilot Insurance Requirement for 2012 SSA Sanctioned Contest
There will be a modification to the glider/pilot insurance requirement for SSA-sanctioned contests in 2012. The current requirement in Rule 5.5.3.1.5 is for "coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence for bodily injury and property damage liability" for the registered sailplane and pilot(s). The SSA Board has become aware of at least one insurance company (Avemco) that routinely reduces their liability limit below $1,000,000 per occurrence when it comes to bodily injury to persons outside the aircraft. The majority of aviation insurance companies offering terms to glider owners do not lower the limit below $1,000,000 per occurrence when it comes to injury to persons outside the aircraft. Beginning in 2012, it will be required for SSA-sanctioned contests that the liability limit is not reduced for persons outside the aircraft. The limit that is NOT APPROVED often looks like the following: Bodily injury (including Bodily Injury Property Damage Combined Single Occupants and Property to Any Person Limit Limit Damage Liability) $100,000 $1,000,000 $1,000,000 The above limit reduces coverage for not only passengers in your aircraft (which is OK) but to persons outside the aircraft as well (which is not OK) as it says there is only $100,000 available for "any person". If unsure about your policy contact your insurance representative. The SSA Group Program policies provide the desired coverage, so there is no need to call Costello Insurance.
